George Street in Brisbane’s CBD will become the destination to encounter truly awe inspiring dance, acrobatics, aerial, circus, hooping, unique collaborations and talent, community, culture, music and more with a 17 night program of performance art and live shows that are inspired by street-culture. The celebrations will run from October 24th until November 9th and will feature a range of local and international circus, dance and street performers, as part of the G20 Cultural Celebrations.
Combined with spectacular Colour Me Brisbane lighting, this is sure to be a lasting and memorable experience, so here are our top 5 dance events you shouldn’t miss!
More than 100 break dancers from all over the country will make their way to Brisbane to collectively form Skill@Will. This impressive hip-hop crew are celebrating their 10-year anniversary with one of the biggest breakdance jams that Brisbane has ever seen. Featuring five hours of live street art, DJs and breakdance competitions, this is a true hip-hop celebration not to be missed.

2. The Bubble Effect
This spectacular installation features a giant transparent bubble and a performer who blends circus aerials and dance. This ground breaking concept melds circus aerials, hula hoops and dance with a spectacular large scale installation resulting in a magical experience for all.

3. Light Up The Floor
This is not your average dance space. It won’t just look different but it will sound different too. Street dancers will roll out a giant light-up dance floor and a one-of-a-kind low rider BoomBox for all to enjoy. The Carnival Street Dancers are rolling out a giant BoomBox – inspired by the old school portable discos and amplified sound of sound systems in the streets. As the legendary James Brown says: “The one thing that can solve most of our problems is dancing”. So come have a jam, you’re all invited to join in and help us Light Up The Dance Floor. 4. Circa Zoo: Brink
Brink is an exciting and dynamic discovery of what it is like to live on the edge. Exploring ideas around balance, rebound, height and falls, as well as relationships between people and the tension created and felt when on the brink.

5. The Remix
The Remix Dance Champions bring you their best moves fresh from their winning performance at Brisbane’s most iconic dance event and the largest celebration of its kind in Australia. If you love Hip Hop and pure talent, this show is one that should not be missed!!
