Brisbane’s vibrant arts community will be on display at GLIMPSE, a showcase featuring emerging artists to be held on Thursday July 23.
The Met in Fortitude Valley will be filled with the work of more than 40 artists from the fields of visual arts, music, dance, photography, fashion, hair and make-up.
The one-night showcase is being presented by RAW, an independent artists organisation. Brisbane RAW Director, Caitlin Hultgren said that GLIMPSE would give members of the public the chance to discover some of the city’s most talented up-and-coming artists.
“Local fashion and accessories designers will display their colourful work – including high-end mens clothing line Cash Berry and vibrant shirts from Phoebe Paradise”.
“Fashion parades showcasing these and more talented local designers will be complemented by innovative hair styling and incredible make-up by local hair and make-up artists.”
Ms Hultgren said the walls of The Met will be transformed into an art gallery, to display a range of works including photography, portraits, fashion-inspired sketches and whimsical designs.
“There will also be an opportunity to browse and buy pieces from artists and accessories designers, including funky bow ties by Fergus and The Cat, bold, quirky earrings from LOCAL the label, and unique paper collages and embroidered pieces by Harley & Handen.”
Live entertainment will be provided by singer-songwriter Garret Lyon, quirky group Miss Elm, and multi-talented dancers Jordan Paterson, Sarah Jane Jones and Madds Shepherd.
Ms Hultgren said GLIMPSE would give members of the public the opportunity to meet local artists as well as view their work. “I hope the evening will be well attended by people keen to immerse themselves in Brisbane’s thriving arts community and support talented emerging artists.”
Tickets can be purchased at the door, from 6.30pm on Thursday 23 July at The Met, or at www.RAWartists.org/brisbane/glimpse
