Following record crowds, rave reviews and a standing ovation for the Australian premiere of their show, Jupiters Hotel & Casino is thrilled to announce an extended season for world-famous dance crew, Jabbawockeez. Jabbawockeez presents MÜS.I.C (muse-i-see) will return to Jupiters Theatre for an exclusive nine week finale run from September 4 – November 1, 2012. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com.au or by calling 1300 888 086.
To celebrate the extension, Jupiters Hotel & Casino will unmask a special halfprice ticket for children attending the Matinee show only sessions*, offering the faceless freestyle antics of Jabbawockeez at a fraction of the price. Bursting onto the Gold Coast Glitter Strip direct from Las Vegas in April, Jabbawockeez has already performed more than 100 shows to tens of thousands of people in the property’s new venue, making it the hottest ticket in town.
Jupiters Hotel & Casino Acting Managing Director, Craig Peachey, said the property has been overwhelmed by the positive response and is pleased to be able to extend the season for the Gold Coast. “We were extremely excited to bring Jabbawockeez to the Australian audience as the first resident stage show in the new $20 million redeveloped Jupiters Theatre,” Mr Peachey said.
“Now the excitement can continue with another nine weeks of shows at Jupiters Hotel & Casino, ensuring even more locals and visitors to the Gold Coast can be exhilarated by the extraordinary talent of Jabbawockeez. “Jabbawockeez presents MÜS.I.C has proven to be a winner and demonstrates Jupiters’ ongoing commitment to deliver high profile, world-class entertainment offerings and a great night out for our guests.”
The 90 minute show, directed by Emmy-nominated and “So You Think You Can Dance” choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon, is a full-scale production complete with drama, comedy, grand sets and costumes, incorporating original music and re-worked renditions of well-known hits from the likes of Michael Jackson, James Brown, Queen and Black Eyed Peas.
The crew has performed more than 2,000 costume changes in Jupiters Theatre so far, and their signature style is spreading across our shores with more than 7,500 people now sporting their own official Jabbawockeez mask. Jabbawockeez has attracted a number of international celebrities visiting the Gold Coast with New Kids On The Block, Backstreet Boys and Qwote all spotted enjoying the show at Jupiters Hotel & Casino.
Since arriving Down Under, Jabbawockeez has captivated a new crowd of supporters not only because of their unmatched skills but also their willingness to embrace all-things Australia.
Highlights have included teaching the Gold Coast Titans and North Queensland Cowboys a few of their moves, a surprise performance at a local school for 800 students, climbing the iconic Q1 building, and a trip to Sydney where they performed at The Star’s new night venue Marquee.
Following the announcement of their extended season at Jupiters Hotel & Casino, the Jabbawockeez crew are planning their next escapades including skydiving in Byron Bay, whale watching, surf lessons and theme park visits, but the focus will be on continuing to thrill audiences again and again.
Jabbawockeez President, Fred Nguyen, echoed the excitement of the extended season saying the team has been pleased with the success of the show’s first Australian season.
“We have had an incredibly welcoming experience on the Gold Coast and we are excited to continue to bring the Jabbawockeez energy to Jupiters Hotel & Casino,” Mr Nguyen said. “Fans of all ages can look forward to the world-class production filled with creative choreography, feel-good music and comedic audience interactions.”
With the show’s season originally scheduled to wrap-up on August 16, Jupiters Theatre will welcome a special “Jazz With The Stars” concert event and the Barry Humphries’ Farewell Tour “Eat, Pray, Laugh!”, before the masked masters of movement return to the stage on September 4.
